CIG continues to stay focused on all COVID-19 developments as this situation evolves. Our top priority is protecting the health and well-being of our independent agents, our staff, and our policyholders.
We want you to know that we are prepared and well-equipped to continue writing business and servicing accounts, while simultaneously following government officials’ and medical professionals’ directives. Read on for more information and answers to FAQs surrounding CIG’s response to COVID-19.
As a precaution and to better support our staff, all CIG employees are working remotely while shelter-in-place orders are active. We have allocated the tools and resources necessary to ensure you are getting the support you need, and our business hours remain unchanged. Our Underwriting, Claims, and Client Services teams remain accessible and well-prepared to partner safely with agents and policyholders through this time.
As a precaution, we have suspended all face-to-face interactions with our agency partners. However, CIG’s Agency Development Managers and Underwriting staff are fully equipped and committed to continuing to serve agents remotely via calls, emails, and video conferences.
If you are driving less due to the shelter-in-place restrictions, whether due to the loss of a job or temporarily working from home, CIG has options to help. We are committed to providing solutions for our customers that are tailored to their individual needs, especially during the uncertainty of the current environment. Please contact your CIG Agent to discuss the best options for you.
To help alleviate the financial burdens our customers may encounter during this time, Capital Insurance Group is granting a billing grace period for policyholders whose ability to submit their payment has been impacted by business closures, illness, or quarantine. The grace period went into effect on March 22, 2020 and has been extended through July 14, 2020. No late charges will be applied, and CIG will not cancel policies for nonpayment during this grace period.
We are also temporarily waiving all credit card fees associated with policyholder payments. Starting April 30, 2020 through July 29, 2020 policyholders will not be charged a fee when making payments with a credit card.
Considering current events, we are limiting in-person claims interactions as much as possible and taking extra safety precautions when conducting any on-site inspections.
For Homeowners policies, high value home inspections which require an interior inspection will be suspended until shelter in place orders are lifted. Exterior-only inspections for underwriting purposes will continue. Though an exterior inspection will not require any physical interaction between the inspector and the policyholder, as a courtesy, CIG’s inspectors will contact the customer by phone to allow the opportunity to set an appointment for the inspection. Our top priority is ensuring your comfort safety while providing superior customer service.
Inspections for Commercial and Agriculture customers will continue. Our inspectors are equipped with safety kits that will ensure surveys are conducted safely, while maintaining social distancing remaining cognizant of shelter-in-place guidelines.
Your safety is our number-one priority, and we encourage you to observe all recommended precautions to prevent the spread and severity of COVID-19. For up-to-date information and steps you can take to stay healthy, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website.
Please know that we will do whatever we can to assist you during these unprecedented times. CIG remains committed to our agents and policyholders — just as we have been for over 120 years. We will continue to provide superior customer service in order to protect and restore the communities we serve.
