We are the leading regional property and casualty insurer, serving the Western U.S since 1898. As an employee-owned company with a solid financial track record and extensive local knowledge, claims, and underwriting experience, we provide a superior balance of coverage, protection, and value. CIG insures personal autos, homes, condos, vacation properties, rented apartments, and covers a wide range of commercial and agricultural businesses, vehicles and property.
As a property and casualty insurer, our efforts are focused on protecting and restoring communities from disaster. We have strong partnerships with many nonprofit and government entities throughout our footprint.
Our community giving spans beyond writing a check. We are proud to offer our employees a Paid Volunteer Time (PVT) benefit, as we know that engaging our employees in service-based programs results in a bigger impact in our communities. In 2017, CIG employees provided over 650 volunteer hours to their local communities. Read more about our community efforts here.
Our humble roots started in Ventura, California when a group of farmers saw a need for protection from disastrous claims, especially fire. Over the years the Ventura County Mutual Fire Insurance Company grew, moved and changed names all the while maintaining a high quality of servitude to their clients and their community.
