Junior Tour of Northern California Tournament

Tournament participant Drew Kim sinks a hole-in-one

MONTEREY, Calif. (July 21, 2011) – The Junior Tour of Northern California, presented by Capital Insurance Group (CIG), continued its Summer Series with its third tournament held this week at Metropolitan Golf Links in Oakland, California. The big news of the tournament was Drew Kim’s first hole-in-one! Drew aced the 7th hole at Metropolitan, and by his account, actually got to see the ball disappear into the hole.

From the Boys Championship Flight, RJ Magat was one of those players who overcame the tougher conditions on the first day. His first round 73 had him in first place, two shots ahead of three players who shot 75 – Shrish Dwivedi, Brennin Hardy and Joshua McCarthy. Shrish took advantage of the calmer conditions on the final day with a tremendous round of two under par 70, the only player to break par. Finishing with a 145 total, Shrish won the tournament by three shots over day one leader RJ who finished the tournament at 148. Rounding the top three went to Derek Snediker finishing at a total of 150 including a final round 72.

The Girls Championship Flight had a first time winner on the Junior Tour. Marissa Hinchman broke into the winner’s circle with rounds of 76-72 as she cruised home with a six shot victory. Melissa Hosman finished in second place with rounds of 78-76 for a 154 total. Third place went to Isabella Bosetti, who shot 76-81 for a total of 157.

The Boys First Flight displayed a level of consistency for the top three. Bradley Keller’s scored matching 76’s to shoot a 152 total and a two stroke victory. Second place finisher Joseph Bosetti narrowly missed the title with back-to-back 77’s finishing at 154. Third place went to Jason Pan who shot matching 78’s and finishing at 156.

The Girls First Flight was won by Simar Singh. After taking a brief rest from tournament play Simar returned to winning form by posting 75-78 for a 153 total and a two stroke victory. Second place finisher Tyler Akabane shot rounds of 79 and 76 for a total of 155. Katherine Zhu finished third with rounds of 78-82.
