Pasadena Apartment building owners and condominium associations can take advantage of a CIG 10 percent premium credit for smoke-free housing units
MONTEREY, Calif. (September 5, 2011) – The City of Pasadena California has a new multi-family smoking ban ordinance which took effect July 11, 2011 for all newly constructed apartment units that are being leased for the first time. Effective January 1, 2013 there will be no smoking allowed in any multi-family units in Pasadena. Capital Insurance Group (CIG), the western states leader in risk and liability insurance for smoke-free multi-family housing units, have since 2010 offered a 10 percent Apartment and Condominium Smoke-Free premium credit to property owners and condominium associations who maintain a smoke-free environment in their buildings and units.
“Property owners and condominium associations who now have to comply with the new Pasadena ordinance have an experienced source for smoke free apartment property insurance,” said Ken Stewart, CIG Products, Commercial Compliance & Commercial Lines Manager. “In addition, we offer a 10 percent premium credit on our smoke free coverage. We believe our program can help apartment owners with the transition to a smoke free building.”
A smoke-free apartment credit can translate to significant annual savings for an apartment owner. Since 2007, the trend toward smoke-free multi-unit housing has grown nationally and globally.
For property owners, the economic benefits are numerous including lower rehab costs for smoke-free units, faster turnover time due to less preparation and repainting, less wear ‘n’ tear on ventilation systems, discounts on property casualty insurance, and lower fire risk.
