LAS VEGAS, NV (October 5, 2011) – On Tuesday, September 27, Farnan and Associates presented a check for $500 to the Kids & Horses Therapeutic Riding Center in Minden Nevada. The donation will sponsor twenty special needs children in the riding programs offered at the Kids & Horses ranch. In addition to the scholarship donation, Staci Farnan and Capital Insurance Group (CIG) were corporate sponsors at this year’s 12th Annual Kids & Horses Fundraiser.

According to their website, the mission of Kids & Horses is to provide safe and educational equine-assisted therapeutic riding to children and adults with disabilities. Kids & Horses was founded in 1999 and is the only premiere NARHA certified therapeutic riding center in Northern Nevada, an area where special needs children and adults are under-served. Horseback riding has proven therapeutic benefits including increasing strength and flexibility, improving motor skills, promoting speech and cognitive reasoning, and building relationships and social skills. When a child is riding a horse, their body moves as if walking, providing a unique natural vehicle for physical therapy. Core strength improves as well as balance, posture, coordination, reflexes, motor skills, and hand-eye coordination. The excitement of learning to control a thousand-pound horse, something most of their friends can’t do, builds confidence and self-esteem while the growing relationship with the horse teaches patience and compassion.

“Our involvement with Kids & Horses serves two purposes for my company; we financially assist children with special needs with the opportunity to participate in this unique and wonderful program, and it also gives me the ability to interact with my community, whom I serve as a CIG Insurance Advisor,” said Staci Farnan, President, Farnan and Associates, CIG Sierra Pacific Insurance Center. “I have had such a wonderful experience with Kids & Horses that I plan on being involved on a year-round basis through a variety of donations and incentives.”

Staci Farnan, owner of Staci Farnan and Associates has been in the insurance business for over 20 years.
