Wraps-up 2011 Season at Poppy Ridge


MONTEREY, Calif. (November 1, 2011) – JTNC Tournament sponsor, Capital Insurance Group, held its last tournament of the fall series at Poppy Ridge, the NCGA members’ course in Livermore, California on October 15-16, 2011.

Tied after the first round with an opening 67, Justin Suh of San Jose carded an impressive 8-under par 136 to finish two strokes ahead of first round co-leader Bryson Dechambeau of Clovis to take the championship. Finishing tied for third, William Brueckner of Walnut Creek and Owen Lin finished five strokes back with a three under total 141.

Casie Cathrea of Livermore took the girls’ championship flight with a two day total of 7-under par including an impressive opening round of 66. Paige Lee of Folsom who also opened with a sub-par first round of 68 finished four strokes back at 3-under par. Hannah Suh of San Jose rounded the top three as the third girl under par for the tournament at one under par.

In the boy’s first flight, Allan Silveira of Tracy took first place with matching rounds of 74 for a two day total of 148 and a two stroke victory over Aaron Chen of Fremont. Brendan Hopkins of Danville finished third with a tournament total of 152.

Aileen Jeong of Dublin barely held onto her first round lead with a one stroke victory and two day total of 154 over Quynn Duong of San Jose. Kiran Sangha of San Mateo finished third, two strokes back of Aileen.

Though the top players performed phenomenally at this year’s event it was Kelsey Kawaguchi of Los Altos who made the shot of the tournament with her first-ever, hole-in-one on the 7th hole of the Chardonnay course.

The Tour Champion Tournament will be held October 29-30 at Stevinson Ranch, in Stevinson, California. In all, the Junior Tour of Northern California has hosted the 2011 Tournaments in seventeen different Northern California cities.
