Beautiful Greenhorn Creek Golf Club Hosts Third

Junior Tour Tournament in the Fall Series

The CIG Sponsored Series Wraps-up in October

MONTEREY, Calif. (October 25, 2011) – The Junior Tour of Northern California continued its Fall Series at beautiful Greenhorn Creek Golf Club in Angels Camp, California, presented by Capital Insurance Group (CIG). On the first day of play Greenhorn Creek provided the players beautiful scenic conditions, however many players fought the slick greens and raced to finish their rounds as the sun set on the course.

Mabel Wong won the Girls Championship Flight with an amazing final round 72. Sunday’s round was marked by only two birdies, but her consistent play paid off as she tamed the beautiful, but difficult course. She came back from her first round 80 to overtake the lead and win by two strokes over second place finisher, Madelin Gedeon, who shot 77-77 for a 154 total. Third place was shared by Jessica Luo and Carly Childs. Jessica came out of nowhere to place third with her final round 74, while Carly stumbled a bit in her final round to fall to third.

The final round for the Boys Championship Flight was a tight battle among some very strong players. Emerging as the victor, Ryan Han of Hollister, shot an incredible final round 68 for a two day total 142 and two under par. He carded an unbelievable seven birdies and a well-earned victory. Ryan Knop of Pleasanton outscored Ryan Han on the final day with the lowest tournament round of 67 but tied for second with Hunter Rappleye of Elk Grove with a one over par total for the tournament.

The Girls First Flight was won by Emily Hwang whose first round 74 provided enough cushion to maintain her lead after the final day posting a 154 total for the tournament. Shooting the low final round of 76 Aileen Jeong of Dublin finished three strokes back at 157. Quynn Duong of San Jose rounded out the top three with a two day total of 162.

The Boys First Flight champion Max Ringrose of Sebastopol nearly duplicated Emily’s efforts by hanging onto a large first round lead and finishing the tournament at 155. Allan Silveira of Tracy and Ryan Garfield of Petaluma finished tied for second with a two day total 161 but Allan won a card off to receive second place honors.

The Junior Tour wraps up its Fall Series at Poppy Ridge next week. The season ends with the Tour Championship October 29-30 at Stevinson Ranch, in Stevinson, California. In all, the Junior Tour of Northern California has hosted their 2011 Tournaments in seventeen different Northern California cities.
