Fourth Annual The Langley — A Tribute to Legends Presented by CIG

Scores a Hole-In-One with 2011 Event

MONTEREY, Calif. (October 5, 2011) – More than 340 people participated in the 4th Annual The Langley — A Tribute to Legends dinner and golf tournament presented by Capital Insurance Group (CIG). This year’s event took place on Monday and Tuesday August 29 and 30, 2011 at Silverado Resort & Country Club in Napa, California. A Pro-Am golf tournament, dinner, and an exciting list of live and silent auction items resulted in a successful 2011 event.

Honorees for this year’s event are PGA Tour veteran and commentator Johnny Miller and R.J. Harper, Senior Vice President Golf, Pebble Beach Resort.

In all, the 2011 The Langley raised close to $60,000 for the two charities; Folds of Honor and Saving Strokes. Folds of Honor salute the sacrifice of fallen and disabled military service members by ensuring their families are not left behind. Education is the key to a brighter future, and it’s the basis of Folds of Honor. They offer scholarships to spouses and children to pursue a postsecondary education of their choice. The Folds of Honor Foundation was founded in 2007 by Major Dan Rooney, a former F-16 pilot, golf course owner, PGA Professional, and USGA member. A Major in the Air National Guard and a decorated military aviator, Rooney served in three combat tours in Iraq. Saving Strokes was founded in Sacramento in 2001 with the sole intent of offering stroke survivors an opportunity to participate in golf for pleasure as well as for physical rehabilitation. Today, Saving Stokes has served over 700 stroke victims and operates on 15 sites in three states. The game of golf can improve strength, flexibility, and balance and also provide a social outlet for stroke victims and their caregivers.

Langley Foundation Board Member Mike Mazzaferi was delighted with turnout and the support provided by the community, “We are grateful to all those who supported this year’s event from sponsors to participants. Monies raised this year allow us to provide much needed funding to our designated charities.”

Monday night guest attended An Evening with Golf’s Legends, enjoying dinner, entertainment, and a lively silent and live auction.

Golfers in the Pro-Am Tournament held Tuesday at the beautiful Silverado Resort & Country Club were greeted with foggy, cool morning, but ended the day with a sunny, almost perfect day for golf. The winning team was comprised of golf pro Shawn McEntee of Marin
Country Club, Kirk Bodenstein, Bob Winn, Bill Kleineike and George Lindh.

“Once again this year’s event was a success for the Langley Foundation and the recipients of the proceeds. We are enthusiastic about our continued partnership with The Langley and the NCPGA Foundation,” said Peter Cazzolla, President and CEO of Capital Insurance Group. “CIG and the NCPGA Foundation are a great team and we look forward to a long and continued successful partnership.”
