MONTEREY, Calif. (November 4, 2011) – Capital Insurance Group has parlayed its dominance as a leading insurer of Northern California golf courses into a successful philanthropic program centered on the sport of golf. CIG helped spread smiles and opportunity to hundreds of junior golfers and two charities with its sponsorship of the NCPGA Junior Tour of Northern California and the 4th Annual The Langley – A Tribute to Legends. This is the 4th year CIG has served as the title sponsor for The Langley Foundation annual event, A Tribute to Legends, and the second consecutive year as the Title Sponsor of the NCPGA Junior Tour of Northern California.

This past weekend the CIG Sponsored JTNC Tour Championship took place at Stevinson Ranch, in Stevinson, California. Sixteen tournaments and sixteen different northern California cities rounded-out the 2011 season. The 36-hole stroke-play competition is the championship of three series of junior tournaments: Spring, Summer and Fall. Each series consists of five competitions. Championship entry was determined based on points acquired throughout the complete Junior Tour Series.

Justin Pagila of Dublin capitalized on his first-round lead to claim the top spot in the Boys Championship Flight. Pagila posted rounds of 69-73-142. William Brueckner finished in second place, carding a consistent 72-72-144. Elk Grove’s Andrej Bevins and Clovis’ Trevor Clayton tied for third place at 4-over-par 148.

In the Girls Championship Flight, last year’s champion, Casie Cathrea of Livermore, posted rounds of 69-74-143 to take the title. Cathrea had a strong lead after the first round, carding a powerful 3-under 69 with four birdies and an eagle. Jessica Luo earned second place honors with a score of 77-78-155. Marissa Hinchman of Lodi took third with rounds of 80-80-160.

Rashad Jaymes of Foster City moved up one place to win the Boys First Flight after posting scores of 81-77-158. Allan Silveira of Tracy carded a 162 overall to finish in second place. Zachary Mikus (Fresno) and Austin Riley (Pleasanton) tied for third-place honors at 23-over-par 167.

A card-off settled a tie between the first-place finishers in the Girls First Flight. Josephine Chang of San Ramon captured the title while Kiran Sangha of San Mateo earned second place after both posting 172 overall. Lillian Torres of Fresno finished in third with rounds of 86-87-173.

Also announced at the conclusion of the event were players of the year awards based on overall performance during the 15-event Tour, including national tournaments and other events across California. Bryson DeChambeau captured the Boys’ Player of the Year award for 14-18 age group. On the strength of her championship at Stevinson, Casie Cathrea earned Girls’ Player of the Year honors for Girls 14-18 for the second year in a row. Being a presenting sponsor of the 4th annual The Langley – A Tribute to Legends has proven to be a winning partnership for both CIG and the NCPGA Foundation. This year, more than 340 people participated in the 4th Annual The Langley — A Tribute to Legends dinner and golf tournament presented by Capital Insurance Group (CIG). The event took place on Monday and Tuesday August 29 and 30, 2011 at Silverado Resort & Country Club in Napa, California. A Pro-Am golf tournament, dinner, and an exciting list of live and silent auction items resulted in a successful 2011 event.

Honorees for this year’s event are PGA Tour veteran and commentator Johnny Miller and R.J. Harper, Senior Vice President Golf, Pebble Beach Resort.

In all, the 2011 The Langley raised close to $60,000 for the two charities; Folds of Honor and Saving Strokes. Folds of Honor salute the sacrifice of fallen and disabled military service members by ensuring their families receive educational scholarships and other forms of family support. Saving Strokes was founded in Sacramento in 2001 with the sole intent of offering stroke survivors an opportunity to participate in golf for pleasure as well as for physical rehabilitation. Today, Saving Stokes has served over 700 stroke victims and operates on 15 sites in three states. The game of golf can improve strength, flexibility, and balance and also provide a social outlet for stroke victims and their caregivers.

“We are so pleased with the events of this year and the success of both The Langley and the Junior Tour of Northern California. Both efforts align with what we (CIG) are about; insuring golf courses and giving back to our communities. We are enthusiastic about our continued partnership with The Langley and the NCPGA Foundation,” said Peter Cazzolla, President and CEO of Capital Insurance Group. “CIG, the NCPGA Foundation, and Junior Tour of Northern California are a great team and we look forward to a long and continued successful partnership.”
