The Protector Network Provides Customers with Updates and a 20 Percent Discount on First Alert CO Alarms
MONTEREY, Calif. (December 13, 2011) – The new California carbon monoxide alarm law (SB183) is regulated by the California State Housing and Community Development Department. The Department recently updated two key areas of the law in order to provide clearer understanding of the new regulations. Updates include the location and power supply of CO alarms and the distinction between new and existing construction. Under the new statewide carbon monoxide (CO) law, all singlefamily detached homes (owner or tenant occupied) must have been equipped with an alarm on or before July 1, 2011. All other residential units must be equipped with an alarm on or before January 1, 2013. The new law includes installation requirements and power supply regulations that need to be clearly understood to fully comply with the law.
