Langley — A Tribute to Legends Dinner and Golf

Tournament Honoring Johnny Miller and R.J. Harper


Event takes place August 29 and 30, 2011 at the Silverado Resort & Country Club

MONTEREY, Calif. (August 11, 2011) – The 4th Annual The Langley — A Tribute to Legends dinner and golf tournament takes place on Monday and Tuesday August 29 and 30, 2011 at Silverado Resort & Country Club in Napa, California. This is the second consecutive year Capital Insurance Group (CIG), the leading western regional property and casualty insurer, has been the title sponsor and their third year as an event sponsor.

The Langley is a fundraising social and golf event created to honor legends in the game of golf with proceeds going to charitable programs. Named for longtime Cypress Point Club head pro, Jim Langley, the event is open to the public. Dinner and honoree recognition takes place on Monday evening, August 29 and the pro-am golf tournament tees off Tuesday morning, August 30, at 7:30 am.

Honorees for this year’s event are PGA Tour veteran and commentator Johnny Miller and R.J. Harper, Senior Vice President Golf, Pebble Beach Resort. Miller, a San Francisco native, is an NBC golf analyst, and golf business entrepreneur, He owns a golf design company, a golf academy and is affiliated with Silverado Resort & Spa. Miller is a World Golf Hall of Famer and still the only player to win the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in three different decades, winning his last tournament in 1994. Harper, currently serving as Senior Vice President for Pebble Beach Resorts, is being honored for his contributions to the sport over the 25 years he has been with the company. Having started his employment as a course marshal, he now manages all golf operations at Pebble Beach Golf Links, Del Monte Golf Course, Spyglass Hill, and The Links at Spanish Bay.

The 2011 designated charities are Folds of Honor and Saving Strokes. Cazzolla, a former US Air Force Captain, had this to add, “While all the charities we align CIG with are exceptional, I am personally pleased that the NCPGA Foundation has selected Folds of Honor as one of this year’s charitable recipient’s. As a military officer, I understand first hand the challenges and needs of military families.”
