Will your insurance pay

enough to rebuild?

Homeowners! ‘Think Twice’ today!

CIG pays up to twice your home policy’s coverage, if that’s what it actually costs to rebuild or replace your dwelling.Your home insurance should pay enough to rebuild your home after a fire or other disaster. But the real cost of construction often exceeds the amount stated in your policy, in some cases by a very substantial sum.

The selling price of your home, whether it is less or more than it was when you insured it, is no indication of what it may cost you to rebuild. The cost of materials and labor, and the availability of qualified and quality-conscious contractors, are sensitive to market demands.

When a disaster hits a neighborhood, the demand for builders can cause costs to balloon well above your coverage. Unfortunately, many homeowners learn about this problem only AFTER they’ve lost their home. This situation can result in a devastating setback — a second disaster on top of the first.

Don’t get caught short of funds

CIG has the answer for homeowners with our Think Twice coverage. Should you ever need it, CIG pays up to twice your home policy’s coverage, if that’s what it actually costs to rebuild or replace your dwelling. CIG’s industry-leading 200% extended replacement cost benefit offers the following options to homeowners experiencing a total loss:
(a) rebuild at the original site
(b) rebuild elsewhere
(c) buy an equivalent replacement home at a location of your choosing, including in another state.

USA Today writes ““A rising number of insurers cap the amount they pay out on standard policies for repairs or rebuilding — typically up to 25% above the policy’s value. As a result, homeowners have had to dip into their own pockets to offset the rising costs of building materials and labor.”

Now is the time

If you acquired your insurance policy when you first purchased your home, now is the time to think about it a second time. Don’t risk your exposure to underinsurance. Consider switching your homeowners insurance to an affordable CIG policy with Think Twice protection.

“I really appreciate CIG,” said Ralph Wagner of Rancho Bernardo, California. “I know a lot of people who lost their homes in the wildfires and had nightmarish experiences with their insurance companies. I’ve recommended CIG to all of them.”

“CIG is proud of its reputation for providing homeowners with full compensation for covered losses, and for working with its policy clients to ensure maximum benefits as they weigh their options about rebuilding or replacing their home,” said Tom Scherff, Vice President of Claims for the Capital Insurance Group.

CIG has the answer

Here's an illustration of how CIG Think Twice coverage makes a difference — providing for tens, even hundreds of thousands of dollars more for rebuilding or replacing a home after a loss.

Say you own a modest house with an assessed insurance coverage of $300,000. What would happen if this dwelling were lost in a fire?

You would get an estimate to rebuild a comparable home. Now, what if your selected contractor determined that it would cost you $500,000? With your current policy, your claim would pay less than you need to rebuild.

A CIG policy would pay out up to $600,000, if that's what it actually costs you. In addition, CIG allows you to choose your next move. Many insurance companies limit your options. But with CIG's Think Twice coverage, you may choose to rebuild on your original property and CIG will pay up to $600,000, if that’s what it actually costs you. Should you decide to rebuild in a different location, CIG still pays up to $600,000, if that’s what it actually costs you to rebuild a comparable home elsewhere, including other states. And, if you prefer to buy an existing home instead, CIG will pay the replacement cost for this home, again, up to $600,000, if that’s what you actually spent on the purchase of the comparable home.

Real People, Real Results

North County Times article (April 29, 2008) titled, "Rancho Bernardo Home on the Fast Track" features CIG clients who were first to rebuild their home after San Diego Wildfire:

"...Richard Larson and Ray Allen intend to move back in August, 10 months after being chased out of their four-bedroom, 3,700-square-foot house by the Witch Creek fire, the fourth largest wildfire in California history. The $1.2 million rebuilding project is about halfway done, Larson and Allen said in a recent interview.

“Our insurance company (CIG) has just been fantastic from day one,” said Allen.

Or at least day two. That's when an insurance adjuster came by to present them a check to cover their temporary living expenses and to take stock of the damage, Allen said. And about a week later, the men received a check for $1 million -- the full amount of their policy...."

See the news video featuring the quick recovery of this CIG rebuilt home spotlighted during a press conference by California Insurance Commissioner, Steve Poizner. His visit to the area was to put insurance companies on notice following numerous complaints from homeowners regarding problems with collecting on their claims. The delight of the CIG clients contrasted sharply with neighbors covered by other carriers.
