CIG Homeowners have the peace of mind of Think Twice protection.

Much more than a roof over your head

Homeowners insurance is designed to protect you financially from damage to or destruction of your home, loss of possessions or loss of income due to lawsuits.

Start by choosing a CIG Insurance Advisor. Next, prepare yourself with information that will help in designing your insurance policy. Start with the big picture first. Think about everything you own and how its value changes over time. You’ll want to look at your holdings, including the value of your home, its contents and financial assets.

Take these four steps:
STEP 1 — Take inventory of all that you own.
STEP 2 — Determine the cash value of everything you own.
STEP 3 — Add the cash value of your income and investments.
STEP 4 — Discuss with your CIG Insurance Advisor how to best protect your holdings against unexpected damage, loss, liability or interruption.

You will need a standard CIG Homeowners policy to protect your investment in the structure and property, the value of your contents and to provide your household with basic personal liability insurance, in case of an accident in or away from the home.

If you prefer more comprehensive coverage, you may wish to consider a CIG SecureChoice Homeowners™ policy.

If you are renting a home you own, you’ll need a Dwelling Fire Policy to protect the structure. Your renter will be responsible for insuring their contents and personal liability exposure.

CIG Home standard coverage includes these features:

  • Additional living expenses in the event that your home becomes uninhabitable
  • Protection against personal injury claims made against you on or away from your premises
  • 5% renewal reduction in premiums after three years; max. 10% premium reduction discount after six years
  • Protection from claims holding you responsible for damage to property of others
  • Medical expenses for injuries incurred by your guests (regardless of responsibility)
  • Personal liability protection up to $1 million
  • Additional coverage is optional.

Financial protection against loss or damage from:

  • Theft, break-ins, vandalism and riots
  • Fire, heat, explosion, smoke and wildfires
  • Wind, snow, hail ice storms and freezing weather
  • Falling objects, water overflows, electrical, gas, plumbing, equipment failures
  • Loss of contents, valuables . . . and more.

CIG Home Highlights

CIG Think Twice Coverage

Yes, you live in a house ... where you and yours feel safe and secure. It’s important for your peace of mind to know that your investment in your home is truly protected from unexpected losses or damages due to theft, fire, water or electrical causes, natural disasters, or accidents. In addition, no insurer pays as much, should you lose your home and it need to be replaced. CIG pays up to twice your home coverage, if that’s what it actually costs you to rebuild.

The Most Protection. Delivered.

The cost of construction continues to rise at an even faster pace after a disaster. This is one reason why when a home is totally destroyed in a fire or natural disaster, your insurance payout may not be enough to rebuild. CIG pays up to twice the amount of your dwelling coverage, if that's what it will cost you to rebuild. You won't get that much from another insurer.  Just compare that with your own policy or your neighbor's.

Identity Protection Services

CIG provides the most robust identity protection program homeowners can get from any insurance company — all at no additional cost to you! It includes expense reimbursement, unlimited identity restoration services, identity monitoring and identity theft prevention software.

Your CIG Home policy includes a zero deductible ID Fraud Expense Reimbursement coverage at no additional premium charge. We will pay you up to $15,000 per case for certain expenses you incur, including up to $2,000 in lost wages ($500 per week), reasonable attorney fees, resolution proceedings and recovery expenses in the event that your identity is compromised at home, at work or while traveling.

You may be victimized by identity theft and need help to reclaim your identity and restore your credit standing. Or, you might just be interested in getting information on how to best reduce your identity fraud exposure. Use the CIG ID Fraud Resolution Helpline to reach a professional expert counselor anytime, round the clock.
