Location:              Monterey, CA

Overview:           This position is responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical enterprise systems. The Senior Systems Administrator acts as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems. This position is responsible for recommendations of redesign and configuration of operating systems and system applications.  The Senior System Administrator will investigate and analyze the feasibility of system requirements and develop system specifications. In order to provide a high level of service to customers, the SSA will identify system performance issues as well as methods and solutions to ensure maximum efficiency and system performance.  This job is also responsible for monitoring and maintaining the system on a daily basis, supports code deployments and L2/L3 support, as required.

The incumbent must be able to manage multiple priorities and requests for assistance in an effective and constructive manner.  This position provides technical assistance following attempts by TechSupport technicians to make corrections.  It is vitally important that the incumbent analyzes requests and establishes priorities for responding to user and system needs.  Occasional after hours or overnight work may be required for performance of duties, such as administration, maintenance troubleshooting, and installation.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Server based operating systems,
  • Interactions between workstation and Servers
  • Exchange Administration Functions
  • Computer-operating systems, system administration, file systems and data communications.
  • Knowledge of system backup / restore and disaster recovery processes.
  • Experience with Blade Servers.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking and Internet protocols.
  • Ability to analyze complex system problems and determine appropriate course of action.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, communications network structures, test editors, computer file systems, job control language, database architecture, and operations procedures.
  • Experience with VMware ESX or VMViews.
  • Experience with EMC SAN.

Education and Experience:          Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and 8-10 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
